Hopefully her mama won't see this....

I've always wanted to make a Waldorf doll...  Now I know why they cost so much to buy!  I hope the little gal who receives this can feel the love her nana stitched into it!

Keeping Busy!

I have almost completed my little dancer's doll.  Of the three I have made, it, by far, has involved the most work.  SHE is worth the effort!

I made this Cardinal, with a gal that lives down the street.  Wire sculpture is very hard on the hands....

Finished this, and even got it hung!  Bonus!

Two more dolls to show!  Almost done....Stay tuned!

Carpe Diem!

When I woke this afternoon, I awoke to a beautiful, sunny, fall day!  Realizing that if I did not seize the moment, this might end up being the first year that I did not launch myself in my kayak...  That could not be!  So... I donned my paddling attire, and launched my trusty craft!

Such a wonderful moment.....

The waters were peaceful as the locks are closed for the season.

This post is heavy on the kayak pics, but I wanted to capture this moment to reflect upon in the coming months.

The leaves are almost down and the water level will also fall soon.....  I am so happy to have the memory of this trip, today!

Carpe Diem!

Thanksgiving 2014

Twenty- three brave souls attended Thanksgiving celebrations on the canal this weekend.  The weather cooperated, but it was not warm enough to eat outside.  We managed, though.  Everyone found their comfortable spot to sit.  There were no complaints.

This thanksgiving we have much to be thankful for.  Poppy has been under the water lately, but he was able to drop in for a meal and we all agree that his presence made our day.  Here he is....the most senior...with the most junior member of our family.

Alex brought along his girlfriend, Olivia.  We did not scare her off...in spite of the noise and confusion!

We managed a boat ride, but man....was it cold!

A quick hello to the neighbour, and then it's time to say "good-bye."

"Finn" all cosied in for the trip home.

My family heard it again this year...."I am so thankful for each and every one of you.  You enrich my life beyond measure."  Love you all!,

I miss these guys

At the end of the summer, the cabin is deserted, and its occupants head back home to ready for school.  How I miss the family that called it their little home away from home.

This is where they spent their weekends...

On the last weekend that they visited, mom and girls kayaked to a small cove...not too far away....where they discovered scores of turtles!  There were painted turtles and snapping turtles contentedly lounging on Lilly pads.

Mom, who fears no four legged creatures, gave her gals quite an adventure.

Here are the gals, enjoying the day, and the adventure!  Best of all...

No turtles were harmed in the making of these memories!

I'm happy that the cabin has been well-used this summer....that fun times were had by all....and that these little gals visited often with their nana and poppa!

Have a great school year girls!

Good news...bad news!

Well...  It has been quite the week!  Challenges galore to say the least!

My grandson was bitten by a dog who ran at him, unprovoked.  He will be off school for a few days while he heals...  The dog is in quarantine.  Dustin won't be going too far.  "Little man" sustained a deep gouge that tore muscle.  I blame the dog owner.  That dog should never have been allowed to run.

Our own gentle natured doggie, Mocha ( who wouldn't hurt a fly) has been very ill.  We took her to our vet this evening.  It seems that she has developed cholitis!   That in itself, is good news.  We had been prepared to return home without her.  She will run a course of meds until things return to normal.  At least we have our pal home with us.

This gal has been really sick too.  I have wrestled with breathing problems since an allergy attack a week ago.  I developed a lung infection, and in spite of antibiotics and inhalers, I woke up this morning and could not get my breath.  Hubby took me to Emerg.  I'll be on Prednisone for a week...BUT...the good news is that I can breathe without difficulty.

I am really looking forward to a return to a dull and uneventful life!

So long since I posted....

It is such a gorgeous fall day!  The sun is shining!   It is reasonably warm!  The leaves are turning and the geese are grouping, and flying in formation...  It is, indeed, fall.

We have had a busy week.. Dad has been "under the weather."  He is recuperating from a stay in his least favorite place, and is getting stronger every day...  Aren't you, dad?

Yesterday I headed north to visit with LIlah...Finn...and her brother Owen when he arrived home from school.  They love playing dress up so nana provided them with some more costumes.  Aren't they just the cutest little folk?

Finn just lays back and takes it all in.  He is learning...from his brother and sister...how to wrap his nana around his little finger.

I still visit my friends blogs as often as I can.  I miss the contact, and must learn to leave comment so that you know that I am still here and hanging off your every word.

Take care!
God bless!

Welcome "Finny" and Happy Birthday, "Owie!"

This weekend the family celebrated two occasions...  We celebrated a belated birthday.  Owen turn 4 last month, and none of us were able to attend.  His brother, Finn, turned one month old a few days ago!  This was reason enough to celebrate!  It was another fun-filled chaotic weekend on the river!

A magnificent creation!

This morning, after finishing a long and difficult shift, I was thrilled to have a little change of pace and something different to talk about.  This beautiful specimen was found outside our facility....and in all my 60 + years I have never seen anything like this!

Moths are to butterflies as dandelions are to petunias.  In other words, they are not regarded as highly. I believe, after seeing this, that they have been short-changed.  There is beauty in all things.  Everywhere....  You just have to stop and look.

Hello again!

It has been a while, hasn't it?  Life moves at such a fast pace.  There is little time to pause.  There's news, however, that must be told!

Please join me in welcoming Gryffen, who was gently birthed, at home, two weeks ago!

Gryffen joins his brother, Owen, and his sister, Lilah, to complete this beautiful little family.

Lilah and Owen visited nana and papa while Griffen was getting settled.  We went to Tudhope Park in Orillia where much fun was had by all!

Lilah was just a little upset to leave...but that was fixed quickly with "one more time, then!"

I found a farm that was still selling strawberries.  I had a marathon freezer jam making spree....and my freezer is full until I split the dole with family

And in those moments when the air is warm, I have spent my time here...

What is happening at your home?  Are you enjoying life?  I am!

Hello!

Has it really been three weeks since I posted?  Where does time go!?

We have been so busy lately!  Let me show you!

I attended the Annual Rug Display and Show.  Below are two of my favorite hooked pieces.

We have done several short cruises around the Bay.

Captain Mocha...

My chickens arrived!

Someone has been earning her keep!

My garden is coming along!  I planted 40 garlic plants, 18 tomatoes, beans, peppers, squash, onions and melons.  My grapes did not fare well over the winter, and we have also lost our peach trees.  (Sigh!)

This weekend was spent refilling the sandbox with new sand in preparation for a visit from Two Littles who will be staying with nana and papa while their mommy and daddy help brother Griffen make his grand entrance!   That's not all, though...  The chickens were cleaned and watered, an old metal swing was spray painted, a gift was started for a gal at work, and papa put up a new gazebo!  (Aren't the Mosquitos terrible??)

We've also had company!

It's hard to tell but the shell must be 14" across!  I won't be swimming off our dock this summer!

Life seems to move so quickly...(another sigh!).   There's always so much to do...  Hope to check in again soon!

Take care!!
